WW I Project Options DUE 11/22
Option 1: WAR HORSE
Part 1: Watch film. There are no structured questions, but you should take notes in preparation of completing later steps. Know character names, places, specific events, etc..
Part 2: Write a letter. Imagine you are a soldier on the western front. You can be from any country but all soldiers will to include the following at a minimum in a letter home from the front: 1) a basic biographic description of your character, 2) a description of trench conditions, 3) technological innovations they see, and 4) the personal thoughts of the soldier.
Part 3: Write a response. Given what you know about conditions on the Homefront from the Gallery walk, write the soldier as a response. Include 1) basic biographic info so I know who you are and 2) a description of conditions at home.
Option 2: Propaganda
Part 1: Pick an approach. You can approach this survey of propaganda either by examining 1 nation's propaganda efforts or by theme (ex. several nations approach to rationing). Below are the links to several collections to start. Remember you can look at posters, radio broadcasts, etc.
Part 2: Share your findings. Pick your comfortable format--a ppt, poster...
Part 3: Create your own propaganda. You can create a poster for a WW I nation or for our own Myers Park (ex: BE 3D Free!)
Option 3: Children's Book
Part 1: Build a storyline. War is a difficult concept for children: your job is to write a children's book to explain to a child why their father has gone away. Warning! Do not be condescending--even small children pick up on details and emotions from the world around them.
Part 2: Illustrate. Add illustrations. You can choose to complete the assignment as a graphic novel or traditional book format.
